Doolin Pet Commission

Another commissioned finished!

Doolin, oil 8 x 6 x 3/4 inches on stretched canvas by Marlene Lee

Since I had painted his ears off to the sides the 3D effect was quite noticeable. I have to say I do like this effect.

Some preliminary studies. I find doing a pencil drawing and a transparent red oxide underpainting helps me to get into the mood of painting a commission.

This was my photo reference. Nice, clear photo with some lighting off to the side is a perfect photo for commissions.

A walk through memory lane.

These paintings of musicians were done back in 2014 from photos I had taken. The guitarists were performing in Woodland during the Art Walk. I believe the harmonica player was in Davis for the Second Friday ArtAbout. (I missed those days!) It’s been awhile.

These paintings are available in my Etsy shop.

Sewing Masks

With the Stay-at-Home order, I devoted some times to sewing face masks. I haven’t touched my sewing machine for over 20 years but I pulled it out to join the many who are sewing face masks. After viewing quite a number of videos of different patterns and how-tos and on top of trying to figure out why the stitches look like a mess, I finally came up with a pattern and a rhythm in sewing the face masks to give out to friends, neighbors and family.

2015 Paintings on Sale

During these times in quarantine, I found these paintings done in 2015. They are now on sale for $45 each on Etsy. These are small paintings varying from 5 x 7 to 6 x 8 inches oil on canvas panels. There’s even a square painting at 6 x 6 inches. Great for the kitchen decor.
