Held Oct. 1 on a Sunday at Central Park, Davis. Another artist and I drew portraits for 35 people in 4 1/2 hours. It was a wonderful time. We chatted with our sitters and found so many different stories. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.
Done mainly in pencils on Strathmore Toned Gray Paper. About 20 minutes each.
Here’s some of the drawings done.
The International Festival is an annual event hosted by the International House. Second time to participate at the portrait drawing booth, Scott Shepard and I spend 5 hours sketching portraits for the various visitors. Fortunately, Kaitlyn, an UCD art student, joined us to ease the long lines.
The participants were great models – sitting for us from 10 to 20 minutes. It was great time to know their stories, where they are from, how they arrived at the States, and what they hoped to achieved while here. I met people from South Africa, Ireland, New Zealand, Sudan, Persia….I even learned that handball is popular in Ireland, not soccer.
The International Festival happened yesterday. The weather was perfect – not too hot and breezy. Another artist Scott Shephard and I sketched portraits for 5 hours. Kaitlyn, a UCD art student later joined us, making us a threesome to handled the long lines of people who wanted their portraits sketched. We met many people from all over the world – South Africa, Ireland, Persia, Korea…..Cool, breezy weather made this a pleasant event.
Here are some of the sketches I did….At the end I did 18 portrait sketches….
