A Page of Bell Peppers in Watercolor

Here’s the process of one of the bell peppers.

Grapefruit and Lemon Halves

I love painting from the top view. I found that slicing up the fruits have very interesting textures. Especially grapefruits, oranges, lemons and avocados. Their symmetrical and circular shapes make interesting compositions.

Tangerine on a White Cloth

This painting was done strictly using palette knife. I found that I can’t render so much but have to consider what color to use before actually applying it on the canvas.

Pumpkins Paintings

These paintings of pumpkins were painted around 2013. Recently someone bought one of them. I had completed forgotten they were around and thought I had destroyed them.

Starting to paint for a major upcoming show in January 2019. So most of works that I’m painting now will not be up for sale until after the show.

The 30 Day Challenge

I’m excited to say that I’m participating in the 30×30 Direct Watercolor 2018 Challenge. What I’m understanding about doing direct watercolor is to paint with pure watercolor. I cheated. I started out with a gestural pencil sketch and then add watercolor in a free forming fashion. The originator of the challenge is Marc Taro Holmes and his blog post explains more on the process.
