These are two dogs that I had already done for their owners but in different postures. They will be part of the upcoming International House Exhibit in March.
I found this painting while I was cleaning.
I took many photos of Lady and decided to come up with this one. Pencil sketch. Under painting. Final painting, so I thought. I wasn’t too happy with the color of the background and changed it to the lighter color to bring out Lady.

This is Lexi, the dog who would not stand still for a photo. In this painting I worked more on soften the edges to give it a more softer look. The background is different from how I treated other dog portraits. I wanted a more neutral color so that Lexi would stand out.
Just finished commissions from one client. All except one is 6 x 6 inches on stretched cotton canvas. I had been doing preliminaries drawings before going onto canvases. Then on canvas I did a grisalle with transparent red oxide for values. I found by doing these preliminary drawings and grisalles, it helps with the painting process.

Just finished a commission for a very small dog painting. It’s only 3 x 3 inches and it’s perfect for a doll house.
Commissions for this size and larger in my Etsy shop. It’s late for Christmas, though.
I love painting from the top view. I found that slicing up the fruits have very interesting textures. Especially grapefruits, oranges, lemons and avocados. Their symmetrical and circular shapes make interesting compositions.
