A few weeks I visited the museum on the University of California in Santa Barbara. One of the main exhibit was of Channing Peake. I was impressed with his diversity of mediums to express his life in ranching – either in representational or in abstract.
In his Concepts of Work, Peake stated, “Artists who find a so called style tend to keep repeating each work, fearing the hazards of change, praise and success.”
This exhibit of his works expressed what he had said. There was not one medium that he stuck to or one expression. I found this liberating.
