Sketches

With my busy schedules, sketching allows me to satisfy that need to draw and paint. My sketches are done in Moleskine sketchbook, 5 1/2 by 8 1/2. I usually have my TWSBI fountain pen with Noodler’s Lexington Grey ink and waterbrush attached to the Moleskine. If I have time in the early morning brushes and water on the dining table ready for a quick watercolor painting. And of course, my coffee.

There are days 13 through 17 with a couple of days missed. I found flowers harder to paint and had only one success. Then I switched over to people. Maybe I’ll attempt flowers again.

Watercolor Sketches

Practicing more on watercolor sketches of buildings especially entryways with flowers. Love how plants add so much personality to a structure. Both sketches were done on Strathmore Visual Journal 140# watercolor CP. The ink is Noodlers Lexington Grey.

Outside Baking Oven Sketch

Guinevere is an hole in the wall cafe that serves great Italian food. The two owners, husband and wife are the chefs and also artists. With my lunch, I was sitting outside next to the baking oven going…sending out savory smells.

Let’s Draw Davis Sketchcrawl

Let’s Draw Davis sketchcrawl group met at Community Park. Full of activity – soccer, swimming, tennis…

I captured this woman at Community Park swimming pool. I’m guessing she’s a grandmother watching her grandchild swimming

I’m into sketching people but not in groups. Too challenging. I find individuals who are not moving a lot and sketch them. I drew these parents at their child’s soccer photo shoot.

Old storage shed at Davis High School soccer field. When I see this, I remembered the time when my son was playing on the JV soccer team. The boys set on those beat up benches. After 10 years they are still beat up.
